At our meeting on the 20th September we heard from Former Sister Lourdes De Aranjo who provided an overview of some of the terrific social programs being implemented within her village in Timor Leste. Lourdes has been instrumental in setting up a ‘Meals On Heels’ program to help feed those in need, as well as an enormous amount of work to provide schooling and welfare support across her wider community. With the help of Lindsay & Judy Murphy of Leongatha Rotary, Lourdes has secured a 4WD vehicle to support the various programs including the newly named ‘Meals on Wheels’. Lourdes gave a special thanks to the Rotary Club of Wonthaggi and our wider community for the donation of garden tools and other equipment, which have been put to good use in her community.
